FoodCloud is an award winning social enterprise that connects food businesses with surplus food to charities throughout Ireland and the UK.  It is a superb success story that started in Ireland and has expanded internationally, with its founders, Iseult and Aoibheann, representing Ireland abroad at numerous sustainability summits.  I provided strategic consultancy to FoodCloud to define and develop their 2020 Marketing Strategy.

Working closely with the communications teams, we distilled and translated the values of the organisation into marketing strategy.  Within the process we took time to delve deeper into understanding and prioritising FoodCloud's different audiences and stakeholders.  The output was a powerful roadmap for FoodCloud to connect more effectively with citizens to create a wider movement on the issue of food waste.

Fincovi are a specialist in renewable energy, set up in Ireland and working internationally with Fund Directors and Financial Controllers.  They wanted to create a clear brand strategy that would guide every piece of marketing.  Through interviews and a workshop with key team members, we uncovered their brand purpose, vision and values.

OUTPUT: Brand purpose and brand strategy that directs all marketing communications.

"Colette worked with our team to distil and crystalise our brand. We’re delighted with the result and can now move forward with our website, brochureware and comms strategy with confidence.”

Ray O'Neill, CEO Fincovi

I managed the set-up and conducted testimonial interviews.  This required life-coaching skills to create a safe space on difficult personal topics and strategic acumen to cover key points.

OUTPUT:  Filmed testimonial interviews that are genuine and customer focussed.

"Colette Henry delivered great work for us in a fast and professional manner. She was mindful of the strategic objectives and combined this with great compassion for individuals she interviewed who warmed to her with ease. I am very happy to recommend Colette."

Siobhán Kelly, Senior Manager, Marketing Communications at Irish Life.

To understand the lived experience of students across the various campuses, I partnered with the university to identify key groups and conduct deep dive qualitative research.

OUTPUT:  A  large-scale multi-campus report with actionable strategic recommendations.

The Quality Promotion Office in DCU has been delighted to work with Colette in 2018, who facilitated seven student focus-groups as part a key piece of research to inform an important review at the University. From "concept, to design of the focus group session, to the execution of the facilitation and the output reports, Colette's approach was extremely conscious of our needs as a client. Her extensive experience as a facilitator enabled us to get the very best from the student focus groups in terms of insight and analysis. Throughout the process, she consistently delivered beyond our expectations; given the complexity of the overall project, it was an immense weight off my mind to know that this element was being so expertly handled and delivered."

Aisling McKenna, Director of Quality Promotion and Institutional Research, Dublin City University.

World Cleanup Day is the biggest civic action movement in one day where millions of citizens across 158 countries came together to clean up their countries. It started in Estonia in 2008 and spread around the world, and 2018 was the first time in Ireland.

I led the movement in Dublin with zero budget and managed to bring together 250 people across 15 local events. I managed all aspects of the project: media promotion, marketing, logistics, health & safety, legal and sponsorship. I got Dublin City Council, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, the Estonian Embassy on board and managed to get the attention of An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

I was invited to the Dublin Tidy Neighbourhood Awards and given a special acknowledgement by the Lord Mayor for bringing the global event to Dublin.

As enterprise moves to embrace the benefits of the Circular Economy, where waste is designed out of business processes, Dublin City Council (DCC) recognised the opportunity this represented for the business community in Dublin. They developed Ireland's first Circular Economic SME adoption programme, where training, mentoring and access to experienced networks were deployed to support SMEs to transform their businesses.

The challenge for DCC was how the course should be positioned, branded, marketed and designed in a way that it would really capture the attention of one of the busiest audiences with a value proposition that resonated effectively.  I was approached by DCC to help them overcome this challenge.

To achieve this, I created and facilitated a one-day Innovation Sprint workshop embedding the DCC team with creative and technical designers (all of whom had never met each other before) to develop the new brand in one day. We developed a new name, Modos, a new logo and basic brand design, a leading copyline, a strategic story and a user-centred design approach to researching and connecting with potential participants digitally.

By understanding in detail the challenge that DCC were seeking to overcome and what success looked like for them I was able build an innovation process which met their needs and gave them the outcomes they wanted. Using my communication and coaching skills effectively resulted in the successful facilitation of the design sprint, coordinating a diverse range of stakeholders to focus on achieving a shared vision and outcome to deliver on the client’s needs.

The first MODOS cohort of businesses successfully graduated in late 2019 and plans are in place to roll this programme out across the Dublin region in 2020.

“Colette represents the ideal solution to many of the challenges encountered in using an Innovation and design led approach to developing projects and initiatives. Each time I have engaged with Colette I have been comforted by her passion for understanding the issue at first instance and then tailoring an approach to overcoming it, reducing the time necessary to produce workable outcomes.  On each occasion she has delivered a workshop, design sprint or development session, participants have entered the process sceptical of its value and leave a short time later with a clear route for delivering success and a new appreciation for the role an innovation-led approach can play in developing solutions.  By hiring Colette, you can be certain of professionalism in dealing with all stakeholders, reflecting positively on her clients but also with the certainty that the outcomes of the work will match the needs of the client.

I have no hesitation in recommending Colette to support the development of the project, public or private as her drive, easy communication style, intelligence and expertise will ensure a successful outcome.”

We all have a role to play so I founded an environmental awareness group called Kinder to Earth in 2017 when awareness of sustainability was very low in Ireland.

As awareness grew in 2018 and 2019, I created a small team of volunteers so we could work together to support each other and take action.  I set up several meet-up events where we shared experiences and developed ideas to help at a grassroots level.

We held several collaborative events - learning to make our own soaps, celebrating Earth Hour with a candle-lit acoustic concert and learning how to do sustainable gardening (supported by Dublin City Council and The Tara Building).

"Colette is great to work with.  She listens, she cares, and she makes things happen and inspires others along the way.  She reduces my workload by efficiently managing all aspects of the event so I don't need to worry.  Knowing I am working with her on projects is music to my ears as I get to work with someone I enjoy working with and I know everything will run smoothly and efficiently.  I'd highly recommend her!"

Common Purpose is an international leadership organisation that helps senior leaders and emerging leaders to lead across boundaries.  They provide intense and powerful courses that develop cultural understanding and diversity in organisations.

I provide coaching and guidance to groups of senior leaders from across the corporate sector, the public sector and the third sector.  We work in a practical way through challenges that they are facing, and practice self-awareness, active listening and open-questioning.  Creating a supportive atmosphere is essential so greater understanding of the self and the situation can emerge.  All participants take actions and report back to the group on the impact of the session and their learnings and successes.

I facilitate group sessions online and in person with effective results and provide follow-up coaching sessions for individual leaders.

"Colette has a presence in a room (or online!) that brings senior leaders together so they can get really precise on their challenges and develop their solutions. She has the smarts and the empathy that make her a great exec coach and consultant to work with.   She has supported Common Purpose on several facilitation and strategy projects over the last two years and I'd be delighted to recommend her."

Dara Connolly, CEO Common Purpose

The Great Reset was started by the Purpose Disruptors in London to inspire the advertising industry to take action on Climate Change.  Here in Ireland, myself and a small team across organisations have united to develop  the movement among the wider Irish communications industry.

We designed a short survey, kindly led by Behaviour & Attitudes, with a nationally representative sample of the population and found that 90% expect the advertising industry to encourage sustainable behaviours after the pandemic.   We found similar positive sentiments among individuals working in the industry.

We launched the movement in September with the powerful support of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI) to 150 people.  We have followed up with events to build the network and educate on the latest climate science.

We will be launching the creative brief for the Great Reset in Ireland in late November and are delighted to have Mindshare and Group M on board to lead on the media bursary - creative individuals will see their creative work 'out in the wild' in February 2021.

Please get in touch if you'd like more information or would like to be involved!

I took part in the Climate Reality Leadership Training in September 2020. Vice President Al Gore brought us through several presentations over an intense ten-day period detailing the latest climate science and solutions.

I joined 10,000 across the world and enjoyed the opportunity to broaden my network in Ireland and abroad with kindred spirits who are passionate about making a positive impact.  We now have a strong Irish team who are taking action and sharing the knowledge.  We are hosting 'Messages of Hope' on Saturday, October 10th as part of the 24 hours of Climate Reality which involves 24 hours of presentation across the world.
